Traditional Elegance & Quiet
Matera's Sassi district carved these cave dwellings centuries ago, and Corte San Pietro keeps them intact: vaulted tufa ceilings, original stone walls, wooden ladders leaning against arches. Suites spread across multiple buildings in an albergo diffuso setup, each one different but sharing the same palette: light brown stone, recycled wood furniture, Corten steel accents. Small "wolf's mouth" windows let in soft light, linen curtains hang over original doors. Some suites add private spas tucked into the rock chambers. The old street numbers stayed on the doors, so rooms go by their historical addresses rather than sequential hotel numbering. Courtyards remain communal, just as they were when families lived here.
