The most immediately impressive thing about the Waldorf Astoria Dubai International Financial Centre might be its stylistic restraint — though it’s unmistakably a top-tier luxury hotel, it’s inspired not by Versailles or Vegas but by 1960s New York, which lends a certain sobriety to the aesthetic.
