Following its relocation, Shiraz is now housed in Wuppertal's oldest inn, on the grounds of Gut Einern, adjacent to Restaurant Winkelmann. Charming historical details such as walls made of clay, straw and wooden beams, showcased behind glass, and the heritage-protected bar have been successfully integrated into this elegant and upscale little restaurant. In the kitchen, chef Reyad Danah thoughtfully marries classic European cuisine with the Middle Eastern flavours of his native Syria, giving dishes like sole with tomato beurre blanc, spinach, couscous and tarragon or banana with vanilla, date and whey a unique signature. Superbly crafted, deeply flavoursome dishes made from outstanding ingredients are served in the form of a five-course set menu (with little extras), which can be extended with specials. Proprietor Serkan Akgün and his team deliver highly attentive and professional service, and well-matched wine recommendations. The restaurant also owns Rex Bar in Postboutique Hotel in the city centre.
