Ignacia Guest House

Modern Design & Lively
One MICHELIN Key · A very special stay
Some of the most impressive hotels come bearing humble names. Ignacia Guest House certainly doesn’t sound like a big deal, but it’s no ordinary guest house. Set in the upscale Colonia Roma, the mansion that’s stood on this site since 1913 was already impressive enough. Now, thanks to an ultra-modern expansion by architect Fermín Espinosa and designer Andrés Gutiérrez, it’s the kind of house that gets written about in architecture magazines — and for five rooms’ worth of guests, it’s one of the most unique hotel experiences in Mexico City.
It’s named after the housekeeper who maintained it for just over 70 years, and the hotel’s garden — one of its most inspiring spaces — still contains a couple of orange trees she planted decades ago. The rooms, meanwhile, are each simply named for their dominant color, and are both exceedingly stylish and provided with thoughtful comforts like Nespresso machines, Bose Bluetooth sound systems, and bottles of Casa del Agua water. And while a five-room guest house could get away with little more than a delicious breakfast — Ignacia has that as well, by the way — here you’ll find a daily cocktail hour featuring small bites, as well as Casa Jacaranda, a pocket-sized cooking school.

I loved the staff. Super helpful and made you feel like you were coming home. The breakfast is really wonderful. I did research this hotel carefully and love being in the center of Roma, but was disappointed by the public spaces, but mainly by the rooms, which were cramped and had no windows...just glass partitions onto a public courtyard.
