Also reassuring is the fact that, when it comes to the nuts and bolts of the place, the Raffles Dubai is every bit the equal of its far-East sisters — though perhaps a touch bigger and bolder, understandably. From the creature comforts in the rooms and suites to the comprehensive list of services it’s a perfectly respectable five-star affair.
The original pyramids weren’t known for their views, what with the stone walls and everything, but this one’s got that bit figured out: every room and suite has a terrace with panoramic views of the ever-changing city skyline.
The best view, however, is found at the apex of the pyramid, where the RED Lounge offers far-ranging views, striking contemporary décor and excellent Chinese cuisine. Plus you can get a drink there, which certainly isn’t true of every restaurant in Dubai.

We were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the accommodations. Stylish rooms, with ample square footage. Nice, modern design. The only disappointing thing is the pool area, which is a little small.
