Boutique hotels in Buenos Aires: it’s hard not to feel as though if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. The city is saturated with stylish small hotels, but a few distinguish themselves from the pack. CasaSur, for instance, started out as one hotel — the CasaSur Art Hotel in Recoleta — and grew into a small collection, including CasaSur Bellini and this one, CasaSur Palermo.
Like its longer-established sister hotels, CasaSur Palermo has a clean, modern design sensibility and a gourmet restaurant that’s a destination in itself. As the name indicates, it’s located in Palermo — Palermo Hollywood, to be precise, so named for the film and TV studios located here, a hip neighborhood lined with street murals, coffee shops, galleries and cozy cocktail bars. The hotel is located in the middle of the action, containing 54 rooms and seven suites, all laid with hardwood floors and outfitted with minimalist decor and geometric wallpaper. Standard amenities include private balconies, Nespresso coffee-makers, 42-inch LED TVs, and iPod docks.
Up on the rooftop, there’s a lovely terrace with views over the neighborhood, and a bar open in warmer weather. Also at the hotel is a small spa, and the chic Sacro restaurant, serving plant-based cuisine with a focus on wellness. On the ground level, there’s a solarium with a small swimming pool — nothing over-the-top, but a good place for a dip after a street art tour or a cycle through the neighborhood. The pool is like the hotel itself. It’s a fashionable place, to be sure, but CasaSur Palermo isn’t a hotel that’s trying hard to make a statement. There’s an understated sophistication, a practical bent, to this and the other CasaSur hotels — there’s everything you need, and not a lot you don’t.
