Modern Design & Lively
The Padre Hotel was never a forgettable place, to be fair — but it’s only now, after a period of closure and a thorough reinvention, that this 1928 beauty has become the sort of hotel that even the most jaded world traveler could love.
The Padre’s style is playfully retro, with a certain mid-century swank, and there’s more than a little bit of luxury about it — the standard rooms come with California king beds, down duvets and 40-inch flat screens. The suites quickly cross over into total extravagance, with the pinnacle being the Oil Baron Suite, which spans over 800 square feet.
A hotel like the Padre wouldn’t be complete without a few dining and nighlife options: a relatively formal steakhouse restaurant, a second more casual bar and grill, a speakeasy, a roof deck lounge, and a café. Fair to say it’s a huge leap forward for Bakersfield’s hospitality scene.
