A thoroughly renovated pair of mid-century motels, the Coachman is now the hip mountain lodge this part of the country has long needed. It’s nothing if not conveniently located, a short walk from the lake, the gondola to the Heavenly ski area, and neighboring Stateline, Nevada, where all sorts of laws are a little more permissive. The interiors are boutique-chic meets camp rustic, and the amenities are minimal but well-chosen, like a lobby bar and café serving Stumptown coffee and local beers. There’s no restaurant on-site, but you’ll be spoiled for choice in the immediate area.

Cool space and atmosphere. Room was actually larger than photos showed. Able to walk to the gondola for snowboarding. The staff were super accommodating given blizzard situation and canceling my room for me at last minute which was greatly appreciated.

I liked their attention to specific details that made a big difference. Providing complimentary good coffee in the morning as well as a cute smores package in the evening to be had by the fireplace. Their staff was super friendly and accommodating, as well as pleasant to speak to about recommendations in the area.
