Castle Hotel Burg Schlitz is a classic (and Classical) example of the latter, a noble 1806 edifice set on 400 acres of painstakingly landscaped parks and pastures. Just 14 rooms and four suites are available, which speaks to service standards larger hotels can’t hope to match. Each is a uniquely furnished chamber of old-world elegance, down to the oiled floorboards, gilt frames, silken fabrics, and antique candlesticks.
