Once through its doors you’re treated to something that’s perhaps familiar enough in New York, but just about unheard-of in a Parisian boutique hotel: a loft-like post-industrial style, whitewashed brick, metal hardware, modernist furniture and all.

The rooms start out compact — “Cosy” is the designation — but not lacking in comfort, thanks to generous touches like Nespresso machines, Codage bath products, and up-to-date electronics. Move up the range and you’ll add balconies along with extra interior space, and the Lofts have private terraces with views over the city’s rooftops or Sacré-Cœur.

While most small Parisian hotels leave you to fend for yourself beyond breakfast, at Laz’ a stylish bar serves pastries, charcuterie, cheeses, and wine and cocktails in a richly textured and inviting space. What’s truly unusual, however, is the spa, with its swimming pool and its consciously bohemian, Balearic vibe — safe to say it’s an experience thats far above and beyond the local boutique-hotel norm.
