Against the backdrop of the already high standard of Mallorcan luxury hospitality, El Vicenç de la Mar stands out. It’s set in an impossibly picturesque location, on the island’s north coast, with views of the sea and the spectacularly jagged Cavall Bernat peaks. It’s the younger sister of the impressive El Llorenç Parc de la Mar, in Palma. And it’s nothing short of spectacular in its own right, a modernist luxury boutique hotel with a classic Mediterranean accent and a full complement of high-end comforts and services.
The rooms start out plenty large and only expand from there; the bigger and better ones come with particularly impressive views from their terraces or balconies. All have beautiful spa-like bathrooms decorated in cerulean blue tile, and some of them come with private pools or share a pool that runs the length of the building. There’s an impressive spa, featuring another pool as well as a thermal circuit and treatment rooms. The most spectacular space, however, might just be the rooftop, home to one more swimming pool, a field of lounge chairs with a view out to sea, a cocktail bar, and the stylish Restaurant El Vicenç — whose highly regarded chef, Santi Taura, also oversees the ground-floor Bistró U Mayol.
