Think of the Aegean and chances are you think of Greece, but that famous blue is no less stunning from the Turkish side. Alaçatı, on the Çeşme Peninsula, is a well-known seaside resort, a picturesque town set on a gently curving beach. It’s something of a magnet for windsurfers, as is the waterway on the opposite side of town that leads to Port Alaçatı. It’s here, five minutes outside of town, on a wilder stretch of coast facing a protected nature reserve, that you’ll find Biblos Beach Resort Alaçatı.
Frankly it’s a better stretch of beach, both for lounging and for windsurfing. And it’s a fantastic place for a boutique hotel. Biblos’s buildings may be made of traditional stone, but they’re modern through and through, the rooms and suites a model of understated contemporary luxury. Even the Panorama Suite, as extravagant as it is, is a model of visual restraint, with its neutral tones and industrial metallics.
The Alatia Spa, on the other hand, is as lavish as can be, with a list of facilities and treatments as long as your arm. And no fewer than three restaurants are on hand, serving everything from poolside bites to al fresco Mediterranean seafood to upscale French brasserie fare in Le Jour, a spectacular space with an expansive outdoor terrace.
