Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands, is the setting for the Eco Dome Experience, a unique lodging whose geodesic-dome structure doesn’t seal in a self-contained environment, but rather allows guests the maximum possible immersion in the island’s climate and ecosystem. Air conditioning is available when you need it, but the whole place is solar-powered, and in the evenings the open-air terrace is the place to share a meal prepared in the dome’s kitchen or on the outdoor barbecue. As remote as it may feel, the village of Teguise is just over a mile away.
