Despite its modest size, Fürstenau, Switzerland is home to two castles. The higher of the two, Schloss Schauenstein, is an ivy-clad masterwork that looks right at home amid the rugged alpine crags and winding valleys. It’s a joy just to walk its hallways, taking in the Romanesque archways and fine wood paneling. A handful of rooms lend some levity to all that stonework with contemporary, colorful accents and upscale comforts.

- Rooms and suites are located in two historic houses. Guests are welcomed from Wednesdays to Mondays.
- Schloss Schauenstein accepts reservations for the hotel and restaurant up to 8 months in advance.
- Dogs are welcome in the suites and rooms at Schloss Schauenstein, but not in the restaurant premises.
- ARRIVAL BY CAR: From Zurich via the A3 and the A13. Travel time 90 minutes. Exit Thusis Nord, then direction Fürstenau. The castle is located at the end of the small town on the left side of the road. On the opposite side of the road there is a parking lot, at the end of which specially designated Schauenstein parking spaces are reserved for guests. Please inform of your arrival time, so that you can be picked up personally and accompanied to the castle.
- ARRIVAL BY TRAIN: To Thusis train station, where you can either take the post bus or cab. As an alternative, Schloss Schauenstein can offer you their Audi Shuttle Service. Please inform of your arrival time, so that you can be picked up personally and accompanied to the castle.
