The MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong Macau 2021 will be unveiled at 3 pm Hong Kong time on 27 January 2021.
For the very first time, the selection will be announced in an online MICHELIN Star Revelation ceremony that will be digitally streamed via MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong Macau’s official Facebook page, as well as the regional MICHELIN Guide Asia YouTube channel, in accordance with local government guidelines on social distancing in the two territories.
The International Director of the MICHELIN Guides, Mr. Gwendal Poullennec, will make a special online appearance to reveal the restaurants recognized in the 13th edition of the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong Macau, as well as share words of encouragement for chefs and restaurateurs going through an unprecedentedly challenging year.
In another first, the 2021 edition of the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong Macau will also debut a brand-new distinction, the MICHELIN Green Star. This distinction, which was launched in France in January 2020 and implemented in several international editions of the MICHELIN Guide, aims to highlight role-model restaurants that outstandingly embody and embrace sustainability in their day-to-day operations, such as efforts in food waste reduction, recycling, the promotion of local and ethical ingredient sourcing, or many other virtuous and inspiring initiatives. These establishments are selected based on research and data collected from the MICHELIN Guide inspectors’ fieldwork.
In addition, the new Bib Gourmand selection for the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong Macau 2021 will be released on 18 January, a week prior to the MICHELIN Star Revelation digital ceremony. The Bib Gourmand is awarded venues that offer three courses (drinks not included) for a maximum price of 400 Hong Kong dollars (in Hong Kong) or 400 Pataca de Macau (in Macau).
