*Please note this is an invitation only event.

Bib Gourmand Announcement
The much-loved Bib Gourmand selection, which lists restaurants offering ‘good quality, good value cooking’, will be released on 12 April 2023, two weeks before the MICHELIN Guide Ceremony.

Selection criteria for Bib Gourmand and MICHELIN Stars adhere to a global standard where anonymous Michelin inspectors review all cuisines, and evaluate only the quality of the dishes. All establishments are chosen according to the same five criteria used by Michelin inspectors around the world: quality of the ingredients; mastery of cooking techniques; the harmony of the flavours; expression of the chef’s personality in the cuisine; and consistency, both over time and across the entire menu. Location, décor, service and available facilities are not part of the selection criteria.

Stay tuned for further announcement of this exciting event and the MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong & Macau 2023 selection. Follow the latest updates on our website or MICHELIN Guide Facebook page.

Eight Treasures
MICHELIN Guide Hong Kong 2022, Bib Gourmand

What our inspectors said about Eight Treasures
This noodle shop moved here from Hung Hom in 2018 and has a loyal following. Beef lovers adore its signature beef brisket in a tonic broth simmered with eight herbs (hence the name) and beef bones for over 10 hours. Alternatively, top your soup or tossed noodles with boneless short ribs, inside skirt, outside skirt or a combo of all three. Honeycomb tripe, sinew, tongue and beef balls are also great.

Keung Kee

What our inspectors said about Keung Kee
After moving to this new spot, this simple shop boasts better comfort and a bigger menu. But signatures like glutinous rice with preserved meat, wok-fried rice rolls, and pork bone congee remain as tasty as ever.

What our inspectors said about Lok Kei Noodles
This busy shop next to the pier still kneads the noodles with a bamboo pole just like old times and the flavourful broth is simmered with an array of seasonal fish. The owner’s wife insists on making wonton wrappers and cooking noodles by herself and she’s very specific about both the cooking time and the consistency of the noodles. Other popular dishes include crab congee, tossed noodles with dried prawn roe, and deep-fried wontons with crispy dace balls.

Manuel Cozinha Portuguesa

What our inspectors said about Manuel Cozinha Portuguesa
Authenticity and hospitality are what draw customers to this cosy little corner restaurant. Newcomers will find themselves welcomed by the owner-chef just as warmly as if they were regulars. His traditional Portuguese cooking uses quality ingredients and many of the dishes are cooked in the old-fashioned barbecue way. He even makes his own cheese. Grilled codfish and fried rice with squid ink are two specialities not to be missed.

Po Kee

What our inspectors said about Po Kee
How far would you go for a bowl of Lai Fan noodles with roast duck leg? Every morning loyal fans line up at the door before this shop opens – that’s how good it is. A fixture in the neighbourhood for over 40 years, Po Kee is hugely popular among locals for its roast meats freshly grilled in the factory behind the shop.

Its lofty position atop the Grand Lisboa hotel lets diners take in breathtaking views and is a great setting for the renowned contemporary French cuisine. What our inspectors said about Le Palais
The longstanding Macanese chef never fails to wow with his exquisite cooking. His Cantonese-style crispy roast duck is especially impressive; consider pre-ordering it to avoid missing out. Chinese spinach and salted egg dumplings are the dim sum of choice with colourful filling enrobed in a translucent skin. White gourd stuffed with shrimp and crab meat is another painstakingly-made specialty. Read full review here.

The Eight

What our inspectors said about The Eight
The lavish interior uses the traditional Chinese goldfish motifs and the number eight to wish all who dine here good fortune. The cuisine is a mix of Cantonese and Huaiyang, but the kitchen also adds its own innovative touches to some dishes. Specialties include steamed spotted coral grouper fillet with crispy black bean and garlic that boasts velvety flesh loaded with umami. Read full review here.

Belcanto

What our inspectors said about Belcanto
Belcanto boasts a superb location in the Bairro Alto (Chiado) district popular with tourists, on a corner close to a former convent damaged by the large earthquake that devastated the city in 1755. In his culinary empire’s showcase restaurant, chef José Avillez offers a modern à la carte and two extensive set menus (Evolução and Belcanto) offering a journey of gastronomic discovery in a dining room divided into different spaces, alongside a chef’s table in the kitchen. What our inspectors said about Les Amis
Les Amis is as good-looking today as it was when it opened in 1994. This singularly sophisticated and world-renowned restaurant is spread over two floors and run with impeccable attention to detail. The set menus offer French classics with the occasional Asian influence; signature dishes include blue lobster and potato salad. Read full review here.

L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon

What our inspectors said about L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon
If you want to feel part of the action sit at the counter; if you prefer a more intimate setting then ask for a table in Le Jardin. The signature red and black décor, along with the living garden wall, have become as much a signature in a Joël Robuchon restaurant as the cooking. The contemporary French cuisine is executed to the highest level, using ingredients which are the best available. Read full review here.
