Modern Design & Lively
Sharing a bit of hotel DNA with New York’s Dream hotels, and fresh off a total renovation at the hands of the Rockwell Group, the Time New York stands, as you might suspect, a few blocks from Times Square. It’s also given, as you might suspect, to certain flights of surrealism, as are the Dream hotels — but where the old Time was all bold primary colors, the new Time is soothing pastels and soft watercolors, against relatively sedate monochrome backgrounds.
After all, the last thing you need in a Midtown hotel room, a few stories above some of the busiest streets in America, is a neon light show. These rooms are far from dull, though — they’re quietly stylish, tightly composed, and eminently comfortable, making the most of their relatively economical spaces. (Less economical and more extravagant are the expansive Deluxe Suites and the sprawling Penthouse, naturally.) Add up-to-date in-room technology and a couple of frills — Frette linens and Margiela bathrobes — and you’re in business.
The hotel’s own fitness center opens any day now, and until then you’re a guest at Equinox, down the street. Also newly opened are Serafina, the all-day restaurant with a Northern Italian menu, and LeGrande Lounge, just off the lobby. And with midtown Manhattan at your feet, you don’t need to limit yourself to dining in — you’re in probably the best-served square mile of North America, from a dining and drinking perspective.
