Cutting-Edge & Happening
The original Zoku in Amsterdam is a favorite not just for its crisp, contemporary-Dutch good looks, but for its everything-in-its-place efficiency. Zoku Copenhagen is, if not a carbon copy, a faithful adaptation: its hybrid home-office lofts and its more compact rooms aim to provide a stylish residential work-life experience for travelers in town for days, weeks, or more.
It’s set in Amager Vest, an up-and-coming district on the island just to the south of the city center. And its accommodations, sensibly, are geared toward the kind of creative work that takes place here — and to the youthful leisure travelers who gravitate here. The standard lofts pack a lot of comforts into a modest space: a kitchen, a dining table, a living room, and even a pair of gymnastics rings for some in-room exercise. They come in XL and XXL sizes as well — and, at the opposite end of the spectrum, there are compact, low-frills rooms for shorter stays without all the extras.
Check-in takes place in the rooftop-level greenhouse, surrounded by calming foliage and sunny spaces. Kindred Spirits, the bar and café, is open all day long, and the Living Room is a versatile lounge space with fireplaces, couches, and communal tables. There are a few more businesslike workspaces, if you need to host a meeting or tune out some distractions. And the restaurant, Living Kitchen, serves modern, healthy fare in a casual, communal dining room.
