In the heart of the spectacular Val d’Orcia, between Monticchiello and Pienza, this farmhouse hotel is a remarkably understated one, the better to let the surroundings shine. L’Olmo’s modest size — a mere one room and five suites — helps ensure the atmosphere is always relaxed, and the pleasures here are low-key indeed, from sampling the estate’s own olive oil to unguided walks in the picturesque Tuscan hills or simply lounging in the gardens or by the pool. A small but lovely dining room serves three exquisitely local meals per day; the wine cellar’s collection spans all of Italy, with a local bias.

An outstanding Tuscan villa in Val D’Orcia. It’s in a picturesque setting with beautiful surroundings of the Tuscan prairies and mountains. The staff were wonderful and ensured that our stay was nothing but perfect. Julia at the front office and the owner Sarah were lovely and most welcoming. The kitchen staff made sure our dietary needs are properly taken care. We enjoyed every minute of our stay here in a historic Tuscan villa full of character. It was indeed a treat to stay here and we hope to come back here.
