Hotel Teatro Denver
1100 14th Street, Denver, USA
109 Rooms
Contemporary Classic & Lively
This refurbished 1911 landmark bills itself as Denver’s only luxury boutique, and it certainly has a strong claim to that title. Smallish and reservedly stylish, it’s all intimate elegance, its 111 guest rooms fashioned from Indonesian sandstone and marble and outfitted with luxurious earth-toned Art Deco furnishings.
Frette linens are a must in a place like this, as are sprawling bathrooms with deep California-style tubs and separate rain showers, stocked with Aveda amenities. Business travelers are welcome, and form a substantial portion of the Teatro’s clientele, but it’s leisure travelers who will likely take advantage of services like the aromatherapy bath or the hotel’s complimentary car service, ferrying guests about the downtown shopping and theater districts in the hotels courtesy vehicle.
Here, more than at most hotels, it pays to take advantage of the concierges: they practically live to score difficult tickets at the Denver Center for Performing Arts across the street, and are handy with a dinner recommendation as well. Stay in if you wish — for Rocky Mountain craft cuisine at the Nickel or cozy games, conversation, coffee, and cocktails at the Study — but this location just off the 16th Street pedestrian walk puts the best of Denver’s nightlife and dining at your doorstep, with easy access to the Convention Center, Coors Field, and the Lower Downtown entertainment district as well.
