Condesa
183 Rooms
Cutting-Edge & Lively
The Mondrian brand has always been art-focused; the original, in West Hollywood, was named for the abstract trailblazer Piet Mondrian. And decades later, the Mondrian Mexico City Condesa sticks to the plan: this 183-room boutique hotel is full of artworks, including a mural by Ara Starck in every room. It’s also an homage to the architecture and design heritage of this cosmopolitan city, exhibiting elements inspired by a multitude of eras, from Art Deco through mid-century Modernism and on to the present day.
The accommodations are equal parts sober and flamboyant, perhaps minimalist in their lines but expressive in their colors. Even the smallest king room is relatively spacious, and the suites are downright expansive, especially those with private terraces. And if they’re not opulent they’re certainly luxurious enough, with Lavazza espresso machines and swanky marble bathrooms.
Cleo, the restaurant, brings a Mediterranean accent, while the rooftop Skybar makes the most of the building’s elevation. Súper Aperitivo, the open-air bar, features a menu by Mexico City’s iconic Licorería Limantour, and even the ground-floor Flower Shop is a café and wine bar in addition to the purpose implied by its name.
