Nestled within the Langham Hotel with walls of windows overlooking Fifth Avenue, Ai Fiori is the perfect perch for the expense account crowd. The handsome marble bar and lounge is ideal for a post-work drink; while large florals, leather chairs and square columns lure families into the formal dining room.
Service is attentive, the linens are thick and every last detail is very, very lovely. The menu boasts Italian favorites mingled with contemporary flair. Begin with thin spaghetti tossed in a chunky tomato sauce studded with sweet crabmeat, before sampling fish or meat courses.
For dessert, the velvety Paris-Brest is light, frilly and almost too pretty to eat, while lemon bergamot, pear brandy and mango yuzu sorbetto balance sweet and tart just right.
