In a place as idyllic as the Honduran island of Roatán, between the verdant jungle and the spectacular Caribbean, you don’t need all that much from your lodging — which makes a place like Ibagari Boutique Hotel such a delightful extravagance. But this place is an absolute stunner, inside and out. Long gone are the days of floral bedspreads and wicker furnishings — though the colors are sunny and tropical, Ibagari’s interiors display a modernist simplicity, not to mention a gallery-worthy art collection.

The accommodations are all suites, some with views of the jungle and others with views of the sea. All come with a king bed or two doubles, with the exception of the two-bedroom villa, and they’ve all got balconies or terraces and can be opened to the breeze.

Roatán’s diving is legendary, and rightly so — the on-site dive center has everything you need, from equipment to instruction to tours. There’s plenty to do on the surface as well, from kayaking and paddle-boarding to land-based excursions like hiking and golf. And while there are several dining and drinking options within a walkable radius, don’t be surprised if you find yourself continually drawn to Ibagari’s own open-air restaurant and lounge.

Immaculate service - The staff was fantastic, remembered our names and tastes. Relaxing atmosphere filled with wonderful views, pools, and food. The most beautiful sunsets. So relaxing we forgot what day it was just two days in!

Ibagari is the perfect boutique hotel. The design, the art, the food and drinks are all so well thought out. Every detail was perfect for us at this hotel. The people we so friendly, but not the fake "you're paying us" friendly. They really made you feel that they were glad to have you there. That bond really made it for us. We normally try different restaurants when we travel and we loved the fresh ingredients here so much we ate 2/3 of our meals here, not even feeling bad! The management was excellent. The location is secluded but close to West End and West Bay. We LOVED this hotel.
