Most airport hotels are nothing special, but the Hilton Munich Airport is a notable exception. The building is a significant one, a 1990s design by the late German-American architect Helmut Jahn. And though it’s got a captive audience, by virtue of its location between terminals 1 and 2, it nevertheless goes the extra mile to appeal to travelers, with stylish, contemporary Alpine-inspired rooms, a spa to soothe harried passengers’ nerves, and the twin modern-Bavarian Mountain Hub restaurants, one a whisper-quiet fine dining establishment and the other a more casual venue for a lively, social experience.
