MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

At once playful and profoundly earnest, this privileged playpen is adored by the Bay Area's elite. The studied cool of the kitchen extends to its high dollar crowd; and the striking warehouse setting, blending rusticity with refinement, echoes the culinary approach—centered around the use of a live fire.

The kitchen, headed by culinary director Paul Chung and Chef de Cuisine Richard Lee, proffers an immersive experience. Much of the menu is devoted to flawless seafood, like Maine lobster tail with slow-roasted pineapple. Leaving the ocean, dry-aged duck breast is an aromatic delight, enhanced with cherry leaf-infused jus and cooked to crisp perfection. In the end, a complex caramel gets a kiss of smoke and side of candied cocoa nib-studded ice cream.
