Shoreditch House

Though the brand’s name ties it to a particular West End neighborhood, the Soho House line of members’ clubs, hotels, and restaurants has gone global. And given that the East London neighborhood of Shoreditch has become London’s hippest creative district, a Soho House in E1 is a natural next step. Shoreditch House begins with a fantastically central location, in a converted Thirties warehouse right across the road from Shoreditch High Street station. And while it’s a decidedly urban experience, it offers something that’s vanishingly rare in any corner of London: a rooftop swimming pool.

It also offers the full complement of other Soho House services, including a Cowshed spa, a fully equipped athletic club, and a couple of in-demand restaurants — the izakaya-style Pen Yen and the members-only Club. On the rooftop adjacent to Pen Yen is the Back Deck, a dining and lounge space that hosts pop-up food and beverage concepts. And while they’re only a part of the package, the bedrooms are no afterthought. Here they range only from Tiny to Small+, but they’re not as compact as they sound; and thanks to their efficient layouts and warm décor, as well as the multitude of comforts offered elsewhere in the club, they’re much more than adequate to the task at hand.
