MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View
The local hotel scene is a diverse one; the Arts District on the north side of downtown Nashville, Tennessee is where you’ll find the city’s most refined boutique hotels, and the Fairlane Hotel is a fine example. A former bank building, it dates back to the Seventies, a decade that informs its interior design; while reminiscent of the mid-century modern style that’s the default for hip-meets-serious hotels, it features the warmer tones and unusual color accents of the decade of its construction.
Its rooms and suites benefit from plentiful sunlight, vintage-inspired décor, and “peek-a-boo” showers, a sign that the Fairlane is intended at least as much for pleasure as for business. That said, there’s plentiful meeting and events space, as well as a thoughtfully equipped fitness center.
Ellington’s, the restaurant, is the Fairlane’s social hub, serving a menu of retro-themed dishes and cocktails in a stylish indoor-outdoor space. It’s joined by the Champagne-centric Bouquet Bar as well as Cheese Gal, for a cheese board and a glass of wine, and for breakfast and lunch there’s the self-explanatory Bagelshop. And just outside, there’s much, much more — the bustle of Broadway lies just a few streets to the south.
