On the fringes of Luang Prabang, an old 19th-century French colonial estate has been updated by resort architect Bill Bensley into something totally unique. The Rosewood Luang Prabang features luxury tents alongside its rooms, suites, and villas, all designed in a historically informed French-Lao hybrid style, and supplied with all the luxury-hotel essentials as well as an extensive array of authentic cultural experiences. Its footprint is somewhat smaller than a typical high-end resort, but it still finds space for a swimming pool and an exquisite little spa; the Great House restaurant and the Elephant Bridge bar complete the fantasy.
