Nestled in the Hakuba village in the internationally renowned skiing destination of Nagano’s Japanese Alps, the Sierra Resort spoils visitors with 25 acres of lovingly maintained gardens and verdant forest. While obviously a winter favorite for easy access to several area slopes, as well as its evocative, open-air onsen hot-spring bath, the Sierra is an all-season escape, even in Hakuba’s warm summers. Rooms are cleanly designed, with timber accents befitting a woodland lodge; suites feature balcony jacuzzis. American and Japanese dishes are available for breakfast, and a multiple French courses are on the menu for dinner at Sierra’s main restaurant. A Japanese-specific dining room, featuring favorites such as Kobe beef, is open during the winter season.
