MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

A short walk from Bogotá’s noted Parque de la 93 and Zona Rosa neighborhoods, Click Clack Hotel distills the area’s reputation for upscale nightlife and hedonism into one hyper-modern 11-story building. And the locals know it as such: this is no wallflower’s hideaway, but a neighborhood fixture. A healthy spectrum of the upper crust — gastronomes, nascent DJs, photographers and models — chooses Click Clack for the weekend’s headquarters. Come to party, stay for the sleek-chic decor, and leave satisfied-but-exhausted with a clutch of fuzzy memories.

The hotel’s 60 rooms adhere to a fairly consistent, minimalist idiom, though not without making plenty of allowances for the human factor. The abundance of reflective glass, abstract canvases, and backlit headboards avoids sterility by means of calculated touches of whimsy: bespoke door handles, say, or Space Invaders patterning in the elevator. Speaking of which, high tech is the order of the day at Click Clack — just about everything is controlled by iPad, from reservations to room service to special requests. Rainforest shower heads and luxe bedding ensure a hard reset when the time comes, with a spa, fitness room, and beauty center rounding out the picture. You’ll want the floor-to-ceiling views on the upper floors, though most rooms include private decks; be aware that smaller rooms can get quite cozy. And you’ll rest easy knowing your hosts have your back, in good times and in bad — both a hangover kit and a foreplay kit come with every room.

Which brings us to the real point of Click and Clack: the clubs. Apache, the rooftop burger bar, is the main draw, situated as it is with an ideal view of Bogotá’s verdant hills and skyline. Thrill-seekers crowd up here until sunrise, throbbing away to Top 40 bangers (if you’re trying to get a good night’s sleep on a Friday, ask for earplugs and be prepared to wait for an elevator). Downstairs, Cien Gramos Kitchen Bar touts eponymously sized portions in a lower-key environment. Small-plate cuisine taken to the nth degree, the bar offers an epicure’s tour through all manner of color, texture, and shape — just don’t show up starving. In the morning, stake your claim at the included breakfast buffet for some extremely worthwhile arepas, and piece yourself back together in the industrial-chic courtyard among vertical gardens. Click Clack will be ready for round two when you are.
