MICHELIN Guide’s Point Of View

Owner-chef Masato Shimoda stands at the counter alongside his father, who won fame in the kitchens of Osaka’s Shimanouchi district. Innovative marriages of new and old include tsukuri platters accompanied by natto soy sauce and vegetables dressed in a Japanese-inspired mayonnaise. For lunch, the highlight is the ‘rakumori’, a combination of items served on a half-moon dish. Flavours of Naniwa such as chicken-neck salad and crab cream croquette are a delight.
