From the exterior, Vienna’s stately Hotel Motto appears to be another tribute to this famous city’s storied history, but inside it offers all kinds of surprises: the theme is a modern look at classic Parisian chic, accented with Japanese and Scandinavian elements throughout. If it’s nostalgic it’s only in its glamour; this is a hotel for 21st-century guests, and features contemporary art, inventive interiors, and an atmosphere that’s anything but stuffy.
