Perry Lane Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Savannah

Savannah, Georgia is a town that’s incredibly rich in history, and if you arrive expecting to be put up in some grand plantation-style mansion, you’re not completely out of line. You might be surprised by Perry Lane Hotel, however; this Luxury Collection establishment contains plenty of references to Savannah’s aesthetic heritage, but it’s unmistakably contemporary, both in its architecture and in its approach to high-end hospitality.

The rooms and suites are highly polished, which is no surprise given Perry Lane’s pedigree, but they’re not short on character — nor are they small or stingy with their comforts, starting out at over 400 square feet and equipped with Frette linens and Byredo bath products. They’re also packed with eclectic artworks, vintage books, and objects that add a bit of extra local color.

As impressive as the rooms are, Perry Lane doesn’t stop there — the Emporium Kitchen & Wine Market is the all-day restaurant, serving up everything from breakfast, lunch, and dinner to cooking classes, wine tastings, and more. The Wayward, meanwhile, is deliciously downmarket, a surprisingly rock-and-roll quasi-dive bar — think skinny jeans, not seersucker. And the Peregrin Rooftop Lounge is where it all comes together, with an impressive view over Savannah’s historic district.
