Hua Hin, on Thailand’s gulf coast, flew under the radar for a while, as the tourism industry was focused on the islands. As a result, it’s less developed than Phuket or Koh Samui, though it’s hardly any less spectacular. This means there’s space for some truly impressive seaside hotels — among them Ananda Hua Hin, a brand-new beachfront resort whose 196 rooms, suites, and villas stand in perfect rows astride a central courtyard, lined with loungers, gardens, and pools.
The villas get front-row sea views, as well as private pools of their own, and a sort of club-level access to the Villa Lounge — as well as all the extra space and comfort that follows from having a villa all to yourself. But the rooms and suites are by no means meager; the humblest rooms still span some 33 square meters, packed with all the modern luxury-hotel comforts, and the suites double that space and add living rooms, private patios, or terraces with whirlpool tubs. To all that Ananda adds a full-service spa, no fewer than five dining and drinking venues, and a separate kids’ club and kids’ pool. Take note: for better or worse, depending on your circumstances, Ananda Hua Hin is extremely kid-friendly.
