The town of Hakone, in Japan’s Kanagawa Prefecture, is famous for its hot springs; travelers are presented with a wide range of accommodations, but perhaps nothing as tranquil as Gora Karaku. Here the fundamental pieces of Japanese rural hospitality are all present and accounted for: hot-spring onsen baths, meditative views, and impeccably sourced local and seasonal cuisine.
