Of course, at this end of the hospitality world, the distinction is more about location than about concept; while the busy port city of Chongqing is a more likely destination for business travel than for rest and relaxation, a stay at the Regent Chongqing will be as restorative as you allow it to be.
Just downstairs is the Jiangbeizui Central Business District, but from within the Regent’s rooms and suites it’s a distant concern. Many units have views over the Jialing River, and all admit plentiful sunlight through floor-to-ceiling windows. Sizes range from spacious to sprawling, and the comforts, both high-tech and low, are uniformly top-quality.
Meanwhile the Regent’s spa features four treatment rooms, a well-equipped gym, and a 25-meter indoor pool. Restaurants and bars include Chongqing hotpot as well as Cantonese and Japanese options; the most inspiring space might be the River Terrace, an open-air cocktail bar with a panoramic view.
