Set in a rural hamlet, this Cotswold stone inn – sister to The Woodspeen near Newbury – has a clean, contemporary style, and is run by a friendly team. In summer, dine al fresco on the lovely rear terrace. Unfussy modern dishes have some Mediterranean influences and complementary textures and flavours. Comfy bedrooms in a converted barn complete the picture.
