All the Key Hotels in Germany: The Full 2025 Selection

The MICHELIN Guide announces top honors for German hotels in 2025.

The MICHELIN Guide's list of the most outstanding hotels in the world has been updated for 2025, and Germany's refresh includes a baker's dozen of new Keys. Like MICHELIN Stars, these accommodations stand out for their excellence across five distinct categories, as confirmed by our hard-working Inspectors.

Germany's top-rated accommodations show off a varied landscape of rolling forested hills and dramatic mountain ranges. Berlin's dynamic cityscape features cutting-edge design perched on Prussian-era boulevards, complemented by a carefully considered approach to architecture.

Germany's Three-Key Hotels

All six 3-Key properties in Germany have confirmed their award this year. Two of them are located in Baiersbronn in the heart of the Black Forest (Hotel Bareiss, Hotel Traube Tonbach), two in Hamburg (Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, the Fontenay), and two in Bavaria (Schloss Elmau, Seehotel Überfahrt).

The Transformation of Berlin

Berlin is a melting pot of history, culture and architecture. While many historic buildings were destroyed in World War II, many managed to survive. This is what makes the Key hotels in the German capital so special - they were converted from historic buildings that were originally post offices (Hotel Telegraphenamt), private homes (Patrick Hellmann Schlosshotel) or even prisons (Wilmina Hotel) from the 19th century. New additions among the Key hotels in Berlin are the legendary Hotel Adlon Kempinski and Hotel Zoo Berlin

The Importance of Location

Fjords, Lake Chiemsee, nature parks and castle ruins: at these coveted addresses, location plays a major role in the appeal. From sunset on the lakefront to sweeping alpine panoramas, the newest MICHELIN Key hotels in Germany combine exceptional architecture, luxury, and service with an unrivaled address. See brand-new Keys like Schlosshotel MünchhausenHotel Dollenberg, and Hotel Gut Immenhof for proof.
