Next to Old Fort Bay on the west side of New Providence, far from Nassau and the main tourist destinations, is the Island House, a 30-room boutique hotel and self-described “gathering space.” The vibe here is understated luxury, with a bit of extra seclusion thanks to the fact that it’s not on the beach — though it’s got private access to a beautiful one nearby. There’s an emphasis on wellness, with a full-service spa, a well-equipped gym, a half-Olympic pool, squash and padel courts, and yoga and Pilates studios. You’ll also find two fine restaurants and a café, and a long list of excursions, including Exuma Cays, home of the famous swimming pigs.
