Esmé Miami Beach
As lovely as they are, the accommodations are only half the package. The hotel’s public spaces are woven together, including Sushi Bar, an Omakase speakeasy, Bamboo Room, a tiki bar from Trader Vic’s, Tropezón, a gin-and-tapas concept, and The Roof, an open-air lounge whose cabanas encircle a stylish little pool. It’s something of a refuge from the Miami Beach scene, though, it must be said, not a complete one: Washington Avenue’s busy nightlife scene begins more or less right at Esmé’s front door.

During my 4 night stay, the fire alarm went off 3 times in the middle of the night (on two separate nights). The hotel staff confirmed this was a malfunction because the alarm is connected to the restaurant. The alarm was followed by a lot of commotion on the corridor. It was impossible to get a good night's sleep on 2 of the 4 nights I was there. The hotel staff were very slow about offering any compensation and it required several emails and phone calls on my part. This does not feel like a professionally run operation. For example, it took them 30 minutes to print out my final invoice. While the location is good and the decor is cute, the rooms are extremely small and expensive for what they are. There are much better (and better value) hotels in Miami.
Great aesthetics. Very good location. Excellent staff. Good food options. Free use of bikes.
