Bard De Sol

Perched on the cliffs above Agios Stefanos beach and the port, Bard De Sol is intimately sized, with just 13 rooms and suites spread across three levels. And unlike many of the island’s other hotels, there’s almost nothing rustic about it: apart from the Cycladic-style stone exteriors and whitewashed patios, Bard De Sol is thoroughly modern, even glamorous, with sleek, urban-looking interiors.

All rooms have furnished balconies or patios with sea views, minimalist décor in shades of white, ivory, beige, and black, wide work desks, minibars with Nespresso machines, and artfully illuminated bathrooms with walk-in rain showers. With the exception of the simplest deluxe rooms, which open onto a shared pool area, most rooms have private outdoor pools or hot tubs overlooking the Aegean. The largest suites feature spacious terraces with built-in furniture both inside and out — daybeds by the pool, a conversation pit–style sectional sofa in the living room, and sharing the same space, a stylish island with stools in the fully equipped kitchen.

There’s a large infinity pool for communal use, plus an attractive wood- and stone-lined fitness center and sauna. Fresh, colorful Mediterranean dishes are served al fresco for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and a range of other dining options are nearby, as are Little Venice and the beach.
