Modern Design & Quiet
After decades abroad, chef Yoshinori Ishii returned to his home country and opened an exclusive restaurant and hotel in Tachikawa. Auberge TOKITO is a passion project: Ishii personally made the handmade tableware his dishes are served on. But when it came to designing the spaces, he turned to the celebrated architect Shinichiro Ogata. The result is an elegant four-suite hotel modeled after a traditional ryokan. Each room is peaceful and silent with minimalist décor, floor-to-ceiling glass windows facing an interior garden, a spa area for in-room treatments, and a private open-air bath filled with hot spring water. An artfully presented Japanese breakfast adds to the appeal of this stylish escape just an hour from Tokyo.
