Modern Design & Lively
If Philadelphia suddenly reminds you of the days when New York was a place where creative people could afford to live, you’re far from alone — this city is changing in all sorts of ways, and the continued flowering of the ROOST Apartment Hotels is a perfect illustration. Morris Adjmi Architects, who handled the renovations of Roost’s previous properties, had a blank page to work from here: ROOST East Market is a brand-new building, a first for this homegrown Philadelphia-based hotel group.

A stylish, modernist-inspired extended-stay boutique hotel is something every city needs, as far as we’re concerned, but Roost was the first to make it happen in Philly. And their house style is very much in evidence here, with the main alteration being the extra elbow room afforded by the floor plan of the new building. The spaces are inspired by minimalist artists like Donald Judd, but they’re far from austere — they’re warmed by organic materials and rich textures, as well as living plants, patterned rugs, and contemporary artworks.

Each apartment comes with Bosch appliances, La Colombe coffee, and Sferra towels and linens. And in keeping with the rest of the Roosts, East Market offers a wide array of residential-style amenities, from community gardens and grills to dog-walking and bike-share services.
