Right by the side of the Douro River, in the heart of Portugal’s wine country, Quinta de S.Bernardo - Winery and Farmhouse is just what it sounds like, plus a little more. This charming agricultural estate has been given a modern design-and-architecture makeover, retaining its heritage silhouette but finished in modern fixtures and furnishings. The seven rooms are plush and stylish, and five of them look out over the river — as do the infinity pool, the bar terrace, and the farm-to-table restaurant. The on-site winery is still in operation, and offers tastings and tours.
