Lark Hospitality has plenty of experience with this sort of thing; The Madison Hotel dates back to 1929, and in its restored and renovated incarnation it’s a small, memorable, and rather luxurious boutique hotel. What’s unusual for this New England–born brand is that it’s not in the Northeast but in Oak Cliff’s Bishop Arts District, a particularly vibrant and creative corner of Dallas, Texas.
Its 27 rooms vary in size and layout, keeping to the inherited floor plan; inside, they share a common design pattern, and are outfitted with modern comforts and retro furnishings. The Parlor is the hotel’s social space, and the social life spills out onto the back patio. For restaurants and bars, you’re at the mercy of the Bishop Arts District, which is abundantly supplied with them, and with plenty else to see and do besides.
