Maison Mexique
The house itself is traditional in style, with romantic arched doorways, cool earth-toned floors, and sunshine-filled terraces lined with potted plants. Each of the nine suites is unique, but all have artisan-crafted elements like colorful textiles, whimsical ceramic lighting fixtures, clay water pitchers, and straw-woven headboards. Some look out over the street, and others have French doors revealing views of the central courtyard. Larger suites have extra features like stone fireplaces and spacious bathrooms with double vanities and asymmetrical mirrors. But the décor, like the hotel itself, is subject to change — the owners think of it as an ever-evolving creative project, and inspiration is everywhere, including just down the block in the quaint historic center.
While Maison Mexique doesn’t have a traditional restaurant, bar, or spa, the owners curate local experiences, including cooking workshops and yoga classes. Everything is customizable — from in-room breakfast service and floral arrangements to housekeeping preferences and private dining — right down to the complimentary evening snack, when guests can choose between French macarons and Mexican chocolates.
