Contemporary Classic & Lively
California’s Napa Valley is an extraordinary destination from top to bottom, as the heart of the state’s wine industry and home to more than its share of fine cooking. But Yountville deserves special notice; inch for inch it’s more densely packed with extraordinary restaurants than anywhere else in America. With The Estate Yountville, a luxury development at the heart of town, its fortunes continue to rise — here you’ll find not one but two upscale hotels of note, the quietly elegant, bungalow-inspired Vintage House and the livelier, more contemporary Hotel Villagio.

The look across both hotels is restrained, nearly monochrome, in white and dark wood, but softened by touchable textures. Freestanding bathtubs and separate showers are universal, as are terraces, and the junior suites add extra lounging space, while the five-bedroom Villa crosses the line into pure extravagance.

On the grounds of the Estate is a full-service spa, as well as a round-the-clock fitness center and an outdoor pool complete with cabanas and poolside service. Also featured are no fewer than three restaurants: Bottega, a high-end Italian restaurant, Ottimo, a pizzeria, enoteca, and market, and Coqueta, a Spanish restaurant, all by chef Michael Chiarello.
