Discreetly hidden within a trio of 17th-century-style houses in Nantucket’s Brant Point is one of the island’s finest hotels: The Brant. It’s a member of the Provincetown-based Salt Hotels family, and under their guidance it’s been given a chic contemporary-classic look, foregoing the typical whaling-captain inspiration in favor of something more agriculturally inspired. Meanwhile it’s set in one of Nantucket’s most desirable corners, a short walk from the port and the town’s main drag, but just quiet enough for a bit of privacy.
There’s plenty to do in town and on the island, from sailing and windsurfing to museums, theaters, and galleries. Meanwhile, back at the hotel, the atmosphere is somewhat residential — but with 26 rooms, an indoor/outdoor bar and lounge (the venue for the hotel’s complimentary breakfast), and plentiful outdoor lawn space, complete with firepits and lawn games, it’s capable of summoning a perfectly convivial boutique-hotel atmosphere as well. The barn, which is home to the future hotel’s permanent lobby, lounge, and the pool, which is in the works for the 2025 summer season.
