Clássico Contemporâneo e Tranquilo
It’s perhaps less famous than it ought to be — when it opened in 1965, the Four Columns Inn, in Newfane, Vermont, was arguably the first farm-to-table restaurant in the United States. The economist John Kenneth Galbraith was a regular, and luminaries like Sting and Mick Jagger passed through the inn’s guest rooms. But all good things come to an end; Four Columns was sold, and sold again, and eventually closed.

Naturally, that wasn’t the end of the story, or you wouldn’t be here reading this. The Four Columns Inn is back in business, and after a thorough renovation, it’s returned to its roots. The guest rooms are looking fresh and contemporary, but without sacrificing any of the rustic coziness that made their name in the first place. And while the Inn is far from ostentatious, there are subtle luxuries throughout, from the Bulgari bath products in the bathrooms to the French linens on the pillow-top beds.

Newly added is a cozy little spa, hidden away in a small house on the property. And back in fighting form is the restaurant, now called Artisan Restaurant, Tavern & Garden, a return to the original Four Columns farm-to-table philosophy.
