El Dorado Hotel
405 1st St W, Napa/Sonoma Valley, EUA
27 Quartos
Clássico Contemporâneo e Alegre
Not every worthwhile hotel in the California wine country is a luxury compound with a vineyard view. El Dorado Hotel & Kitchen is as urban as it gets, at least in tranquil Sonoma, California — this 27-room boutique hotel stands right on the town’s central square, surrounded by art galleries, tasting rooms, and excellent restaurants (including its own, which we’ll return to in a bit).
The rooms are stylish and contemporary, decorated in warm colors and organic materials. The look is restrained, especially in contrast with the French-countryside vibe affected by so many wine country hotels, but it’s plenty cozy, an impression that’s only reinforced by in-room amenities like Illy espresso machines and Tivoli bluetooth sound systems. The town-center location is convenient but the view from your balcony over Sonoma Plaza isn’t exactly the big city — you’ll rest easy and undisturbed.
From here, of course, the vineyards and wineries of Sonoma Valley are easily accessible, as is the wealth of restaurants native to this particularly blessed corner of the country. But the best part about El Dorado’s location is that you can see so much of Sonoma on foot — starting with the El Dorado Kitchen, where chef Armando Navarro delivers farm- and ranch-fresh seasonal fare in the finest modern Californian tradition.
